The Orbi satellites are the devices that are not the router originally but it is a device that is used to supplement the network strength, coverage, and the speed of the Wi-Fi. From your main router.

  • The main factor for which the users are not able to connect the Orbi with the satellite is the long distance between the Orbi router and the satellite.
  • If you see that the distance between the device is more than what is actually required, there are chances that you will not be able to connect the Orbi with the satellite. Make sure to minimize the distance between the router and the Orbi satellite.
  • If you see that you are not able to connect the Orbi router with the satellite, then it could be the result of the loose ethernet connection between the devices or the cables which are not properly inserted in the Orbi and the satellite. 
  • Also, make sure that the Orbi satellite is connected to the power socket. If it fails, then the Orbi router will fail to detect the satellite.
  • One common cause could be when the satellite is with the outdated firmware on the Orbi mesh system. Make sure that you keep your router up to date. 
  • Resetting the Orbi router with the factory default settings is also going to resolve the Orb connection errors. When you reset the device, you can sync the Orbi with the satellites more easily.

  • If you see that the satellite’s LED is pulsing magenta then it means that the Orb router can’t find the Orbi satellite. in that case move your satellite closer to the Orbi router. 
  • Also, make sure that you are pressing the sync button and not the power button to form a connection between both devices. 
  • If you see that the Orbi satellite is not detected by the Orbi router. Then you need to cross the cable as well as the connection.
  • If you see that the Orbi satellite loses the connection with the router continuously. Then this must be due to the outdated firmware.  
  • What you must do is log in to the Orbi official website and then update the firmware of the Orbi router. There are at times when you will not be able to access the Orbi admin page and thus you will face another error. 
  • Even after trying all these steps, if you see that the Orbi Satellite Not Connecting to the satellite, then you can reset both the devices with their default settings. This can easily be done using the reset button after signing in to the Orbi login router page. 

Advanced Steps:

  • Place the Orbi router and the satellite in the same room, where the syncing process is proceeding.
  • You have to connect the Orbi satellite to the power source. Make sure that it is receiving proper power. 
  • If you see that the power LED is not lighting up. Then you need to press the ON/OFF button that is on the back of the device. 
  • Press the sync button and then wait for two minutes. 
  • After that, find and press the sync button on the Orbi satellite. 
  • The satellite is going to pulse either of the three colors- blue, white, or magenta. 

Blue- the satellite and the router are synced and the connection is good. 

Amber- The Orbi satellite and the router are synced and the connection is fair.

Magenta- the Orbi satellite is not detected by the Orbi router. Make sure to move the devices closer to each other.
